On March 31, 2015 marked the proclamation of The Psychotherapy Act in Ontario, thereby creating the new College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario (CRPO). This is great news for the public because for the first time in Ontario Psychotherapy will now be regulated. This will allow clients to easily differentiate between registered and non-registered therapists during their search for help.
I am now officially considered a Registered Psychotherapist as well as a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist.
I hope insurance companies will add ‘Psychotherapy’ to their list of covered providers quickly, as this is in the best interest of employees.
