What is individual therapy and counselling?
We all need support from time to time, someone to talk to, someone to help us sort out our feelings, help us cope with difficult circumstances, and help us navigate decisions we need to make. The benefit of individual therapy is having an unbiased, caring and compassionate professional therapist ask you the right questions to help you navigate life. We believe talking is medicine, and at some point in our lives we all need someone to talk to. We will help you identify unhelpful patterns in your life and replace them with patterns that lead to effective decision making, confidence in yourself, and connected relationships. When in your life do you have the opportunity to just talk about yourself for an hour, and have someone listen attentively to your concerns? Individual counselling provides a unique time and space that is focused solely on you, and you are worth it!
Who we help?
We help a diverse group of clients. We accept clients starting at the age of 14 and have seen clients in their late 70s, early 80s. We are culturally and identity sensitive. We have therapists who specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, and the Indigenous community. We also have therapists who specialize in working with women’s issues, and therapists who work with men’s issues. We have expertise in helping clients struggling with anxiety, parenting, depression, grief, relationships, etc.
What are the common reasons for seeking Individual Psychotherapy?
Most people, but not all, have a specific concern they are need helping with, for example, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, parenting, etc. Others come because they desire personal growth and want to learn more about themselves and their patterns. Others come because they need help with their relationship, or they need to make a decision about their relationship. We help clients reframe their unhelpful thoughts, change the meaning they attach to such thoughts, and replace them with healthy thoughts. We help clients gain the tools and resources to feel differently about themselves and the circumstances they are in.
